Harmonized Produce Safety Standard (HPSS)
HPSS has recently been revised to version 1.2. The primary changes to HPSS GR include an expansion of scope applicability to include combinable crops, clarification of maintenance of competency, and the adoption of all relevant General Regulations v5.4-GFS in Parts I, II, and III. HPSS CPCC has seen changes including a number of clarifications/explanations with added examples, movement of control points to more relevant sections, references to ISO 17025 for laboratory accreditation for analyses, verification of calibration methods available, and 8 new control points: continuous improvement and food safety culture, site security and response, response plan for leaks, risk assessment for post-harvest, packing materials inspection, hold, segregate, and release procedures for nonconforming product, and trash handling (already appearing in pre-harvest, added to post-harvest.)
