BRCGS Storage and Distribution
Food supply chains are more globally diverse and complex than ever, with goods passing through multiple channels both before and after manufacturing. These networks of intermediaries, from warehouses and delivery trucks to cargo ships and factories, may allow products to reach customers around the world, but they also open up new avenues for risk at each link in the chain. The BRCGS Storage & Distribution Standard (Issue 4) is designed to help mitigate these risks through continual improvement and product safety management systems.
Reflecting the best practices of the industry, S&D Issue 4, first released in 2020, has support from leading brands, retailers, and other logistics figures. With 16% year to year growth and certified sites in over 50 countries, BRCGS’s standard can be applied to any point in the distribution chain from primary production to retail. Fully flexible, operations can implement the full scope or a separate scope most relevant to their operations, such as Storage Only, Transport Only, or Distribution Only.
In addition to flexible scope options, businesses can also choose to add Additional Modules (AMs) covering other industry practices to show even greater supply chain assurance. These include options such as wholesale, inspection, e-commerce, cross-docking, and more!
