Active Projects
As an ANSI-Accredited Standards Developer, PJRFSI maintains active projects across food safety and cannabis safety. Each project follows ANSI’s Essential Requirements for openness, balance, consensus, and due process. Current active projects are listed below.
Cannabis Safety Certification Standard
PJRFSI developed the first ANAB-accredited cannabis certification standard in the United States, a GMP- -based framework designed to help cannabis growers, manufacturers, and retailers meet state-by-state regulatory requirements in a consistent, independently verified way. This was a historic milestone: no certification body in the U.S. had achieved ANAB accreditation for a cannabis program before PJRFSI.
As federal and state cannabis regulations continue to evolve, PJRFSI actively maintains and revises this standard to reflect current regulatory expectations and industry practice. Organizations in cannabis cultivation, manufacturing, or retail can participate in the review process through the Get Involved page.

Upcoming and Proposed Projects
PJRFSI periodically initiates new standards development projects where credible, independently developed frameworks are needed. Proposed projects are announced publicly and go through a formal initiation process that includes stakeholder notification and opportunity for comment before development begins.
